Franken Cookie
Original puppet show musical performance written, produced, and performed by ArtJoy’s founders Toni Mikulka-Chang and Joey Chang, CelloJoe
Franken Cookie is a fast-paced, silly, and slightly spooky puppet show that puts a hilarious twist on the classic Gingerbread Man story.
In this reimagined tale, a genetically modified, giant rainbow-sprinkle cookie is accidentally brought to life—and immediately makes a daring escape. Bright, delicious, and impossibly colorful, Franken Cookie is simply too tempting to resist. As the cookie races away, a parade of monster puppets give chase, each one eager to take a bite of the most magnificent cookie they’ve ever seen.
Just like in the original folktale, the cookie is clever, confident, and a little too smug—outsmarting one creature after another as it makes its great escape. But in a final attempt to prove it’s the smartest treat of all, Franken Cookie makes one last risky decision… and, as with many classic cautionary tales, that choice leads to its ultimate (and inevitable) demise.
Told with big, colorful puppets, playful humor, and lots of visual spectacle, Franken Cookie is a delightfully absurd story about overconfidence, temptation, and what happens when you’re just a little too tasty for your own good.
