Giant Puppet Creation Lab: The Rose Devaa
A 6-Day Immersive Ritual Art & Performance Build
with Toni Mikulka-Chang (ArtJoy) and Marya Stark
Location: Grass Valley Museum of Art & Cultural History (formerly St. Joseph’s)
Dates:March 16–21, 2026
Daily Schedule: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM (includes lunch break)
Group Size: Limited to 15 participants
Join ArtJoy founder Toni Mikulka-Chang and singer / ritual artist Marya Stark for a rare, deep, hands-on, community build: the creation of a full-scale touring giant puppet — The Rose Devaa — a ceremonial being born from the She Rose performance lineage.
This is not a class where everyone makes their own object. This is a collective myth-making and building process where a group comes together to design, construct, and bring to life one monumental ritual puppet that will go on tour with Marya in the next blossoming of the She Rose performances.
Participants will be part of the entire arc of creation: from visioning and design, to sculpting, building, painting, engineering, embodiment, and finally performance.
